Well, with some advice from Adam, and turning my exposure WAY down (and doing some other stuff, all over the place, trying a couple different things), this is what I got: Warning: click for HUGE images. Not dialup-friendly at all

Much better. Especially the last one. Didn’t get the web as clearly, but it’s still hinted pretty nicely. And his colors are just phenomenal here. And look at the little spineys on his legs! Yeesh! That’s just AWESOME.
