Dying Drive!
My music drive is dying.
Sucks, huh? Read errors, system hangs, all sorts of badness happening.
So I’m copying all the data off of it. So far, I’ve recovered 48ish of the 107GB on it. Some copies are just totally failing, which sucks. Some cause the drive to grind for a while. Lots of dmesg output, lots of read errors…
I think most of the data has survived, but … I don’t think it’ll survive another week. So I’m copying it to my refurb 200gb disk, and retiring the old 120, and that’ll be that.
Oh, and I bought a pair of 300gb SATA disks to replace it. (Yes, I know the math doesn’t work out, but I don’t care :-p).
