Yikes!
yikes indeed.
I just realized that I am up to 3 titled, half-written posts that are saved as drafts and just waiting for me to go in and spend about 45 minutes each on them to fix things up and clean up the structure and turn them into actual posts.
I’ll probably not get to them tonight either, ’cause I’m flippin’ tired (insomnia before first days of class … hopefully over that tonight though). Speaking of which, classes are looking good. CS 448, prof is Walid Aref, he’s a pretty interesting guy … he’s engaging the class and rewarding participation (but not penalizing nonparticipation). It’s nice to be free to get what you want out of the class, y’know? Phil 303 is interesting too, Jacovides seems like a decent guy, if very serious about academia and the subject matter. Both are definitely experts in their fields, both are into the subject at hand, both are trying to encourage positive class participation (as opposed to Hosking’s largely “boldly marching on” lectures and Dorsey’s attempts to draw wrong answers to subtly deride them).
Yeah … looking like a good semester.
Anyway, subject matter teaser: one’s an introspective look at where I am and where I want to be, that I subjected Pat and to a much lesser extent Spazzium to last night. One’s a commentary on anonymity, privacy, and trust. The most recent one’s a commentary on logical fallacies in a relevant contemporary context. You’ll like them
