kevin smith

Kevin Smith = awesome.

We were there for 5 hours or so, with him just fielding whatever questions people had for the vast majority of the time.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. I’m not entirely sure it was $40.00 cool, but … it was definitely “don’t bother with domain relational calculus, in order to see it” cool.

Income taxes are filed. I should be getting a pretty nice chunk back (as usual), but … who knows when. I’m having them do the normal electronic deposit methodology, so that should save about 6 weeks, but … I’m hoping that that free cash influx comes before the end of the month.

Even after a nice paycheck, I’m having trouble rebuilding balances. Part of that is residual and unexpected expenses (like the tickets to the Kevin Smith thing, plus the cost of dinner and filling the tank in Adam’s car to drive back). Part of that is that I’m making more than minimum payments on the SSLISBPBY (stupid student loan I shouldn’t be paying back yet), in order to pay it a bit earlier.

Databases is looking like it’s going to be a more stressful class than expected. The projects are shaping up to be substantial (since we’re implementing a database engine). The homeworks aren’t exactly trivial, either, and will probably be representative of the exams (at least, that’s the theory the TA’s pushing).

And philosophy has somewhat drawn itself up into a bit of a towering force, as well. I’ve got a takehome exam in that, due tuesday. Most of it looks to be fairly straightforward, but part of it is going to require starting to read Locke and understand bits of him. Bleh.

For now, sleep, then turning in DB homework after a whopping 2 and a half hours of sleep (again! Stupid Kevin Smith, keeping me up all hours by being hilarious).
