So, my mom’s school lan is apparently infected with sasser.
Of course, since I was home before they got it, and spent a few hours in general near her computer, I’m about 99.9999% sure she doesn’t have it. Hers is probably the only machine in the school that’s fully patched, running winxp sp2 and all the updates.
And yet, she’s not allowed to use the internet, because she might spread sasser.
God … why are the idiots who refused to set up auto-updates allowed to be the “IT” people? I swear …
Some people just shouldn’t be allowed near computers. Or at least shouldn’t be allowed to admin them. My mom’s school, like most, has someone who has NO idea what information security even IS as their technical lead or whatever. Seriously …
There should be a requirement. Like … within a year of getting a job like that, you need to achieve a certain degree of competence … say by getting A+ certification or something easy like that. I dunno.
