sudden shifts in technological preference…

So, for a long time I’ve been a pico/nano user. Then one day I just sort of suddenly started using vim. I don’t know why … I just did. I think it was about 2, 3 months ago maybe. Away from “intuitive” and towards “efficient” I suppose.

Then, just last week, I started using “control-d” to exit shells. Amazing, once you’re used to it, how much faster it is to hit control-d than to type “exit”.

Without XGL, I was a die-hard xfce4 user. With XGL and gnome 2.14, well … it must have been pretty hard, ’cause my xfce-fan side died. Something about having a functional file browser and a desktop that’s more than just a background image, I guess…

I wonder if that trend will keep up, or what the next random inefficient thing I do will get suddenly supplanted with something else.
