A coherent picture of disgust in action.

This story I ran into (via technocrat) is interesting, if nothing else as an informative commentary on human nature and the nature of disgust. It talks about opposition to pumping reclaimed water from sewage treatment back into a reservoir and adding it back to the supply of potable water — after being extensively treated and tested.

The “Experimental Theology” blog I linked a while ago had a related, interesting article on the nature of (and irrationality of) disgust, as a foundational piece to build a point about the inherent incompatibility of the “hate the sin, love the sinner” doctrine. But it’s especially useful as a brief and vivid exploration of disgust in human nature.

Taken together, I think the two articles create an interesting picture. See for yourself.
