hobbies
I was sitting here reading an animesuki thread, and sort of feeling the thread poster’s feelings — namely “I’m sort of getting tired of most anime”.
And read the responses, and of course there’s the typical “you’re just not watching the right anime” coming from like 20 different people and spins.
And I got to thinking … anime, like fansubbing, is a hobby. I’ve had a lot of hobbies. A hell of a lot of hobbies.
And so I decided to try to name them all off to myself.
Counting each general type of pet (ie: tropical fish as one, a dog as one), counting all the stuff I’ve burned leisure time on that isn’t vegetating in front of a TV, I think I’ve burned through 75-80 hobbies over the course of my conscious life, ranging from archery to amateur architecture to rocketry to fishing to go to philosophy to programming to fansubbing.
Really, I’ve done a lot of stuff. I guess it’s no wonder that I don’t have the same ennui that plagues friends of mine … when I get it, I just find something else to scratch the itch with!
I guess it works :-p
