more good

Got a 96 on psychobio exam 2, got new shoes, got an Indiana license (after a week of not being legally able to drive), and topped it all off with getting God Hand and Makai Kingdom.

God Hand is fun, a bit zany, pretty difficult at times. There’s a lot of “mash on square” … the basic strategy is “mash on square until the enemy starts guarding, then immediately use a guard break and punish them brutally for making the mistake of guarding”. Of course, if that fails (ie: you mash on square without guard breaking one too many hits), you get pummeled senseless for making the mistake of attacking when you should have been running the hell away. Doesn’t quite have the depth that DMC3-style combat has, but it’s still pretty fun.

Makai Kingdom is like a strange hybrid of Phantom Brave and … something. I’m not really sure what. It’s like phantom brave, without the “title” system or the limited-term summoning (ie: movement mechanics are the same, combat is generally the same). Your base panel is a level 2000 overlord sacred tome. It’s goofy. Feels a little clunkier and less well-produced than disgaea 1/2 or phantom brave… I dunno, it just isn’t really grabbing me as an incredible game. Which is good, ’cause I’ve got an exam in theory of computation next week…

Roommate’s getting to be more of an asshat. I’m entertaining the idea of pummelling him God Hand style.
