Hitchhiker’s Guide
Went to see Hitchhiker’s Guide with Jason and Ryan today.
It’s been a while since I read the books, but the movie was funny. Not as hilariously funny as the books were, and not funny in the same sort of way. Some gags were trimmed entirely, or trimmed to the point that they weren’t gags anymore. The plot was juggled around a little bit, and some characters were merged a bit. I seemed to remember Zaphod being less … stupid. And I always had a different view of some of the characters than it presented.
Interestingly, despite it being different than my imagination, it still worked pretty well. Definitely not bad as matinees go. I think it was totally the right choice not to go see it opening night though. I am not a big fan of crowds :-p. It was nice having a total of like 8 or 9 people in the theater, and us being 3 of them. In fact, the 3:15 showing was probably a little late, since it got out right in the peak of rush hour.
All in all, it’s been a decent “unwind” day. Tomorrow, back into the swing, with Futakoi Alternative ep 4 waiting for me, and some updates to do at work. Not to mention eclipse to play with.
