Weird Dreams
I had a weird, weird dream.
I was setting up a database. I don’t remember the details, but it was basically a big table of animals and statistics.
And I set the preliminary table up in excel, with the data entered. Then I imported the data into something else, but it didn’t work very well. So I exported it as a CSV and set up oracle to import that. But the process of setting up oracle was … not quite like it actually is.
The process involved getting a free license to a small cluster of very large, very nicely decorated rooms. And this was on top of a staircase, and a big step up. And to get in, you had to open a puzzle based on rotating 3-faced statues. It took me a few minutes to get it open, but when I did, there the room was, decorated in the way you’d expect one of those “society” rooms to be decorated. Wood panels, fireplaces, elegant crimson carpeting. Other people were inside of it in various rooms, lounged around the fire chatting, or over in the library room reading. And then there was this gorgeous woman who was sitting in the bar room (yes, there was a room that was a very swanky bar, with barstools and a high counter at the wraparound window that overlooked an awesome coastal sunset — which is where she was). She was looking bored, programming on a swank powerbook, taking advantage of the ubiquitous wifi. And I went in and met her and started talking to her a bit.
Then my dad called on my cell phone, and I woke up. What a weird dream.
