Threads Threads Threads
Oh man … this is just a beautiful life convergence here … it’s like somehow managing to thread a needle perfectly with a dowel rod. Insane.
My sublease ends midnight July 26th. That’s … Thursday. So a little insane, right?
Well, this afternoon (Monday, the 23rd), I got the call, I got the job offer, and I got the job. That’s right! I have a job! The one in DC that I flew out and interviewed for on Friday.
Well, I immediately hesitated for a second … thinking “well, I’d like to give Simulex a chance still … since I really like being around here”. Then I said “wait a minute … I’ve already given them the whole damned summer with not so much as a peep. And Purdue, also, the whole summer, with a dead end at HR the whole time. And so, given that they’ve all had months, or in the case of the other possible prospects weeks, I don’t feel so bad about immediately accepting the offer.
Anyway, now I’m opening a new bank account, arranging a move, wrapping up the last of my Purdue business (you’d be surprised just how much of it there is to wrap up in the next 2 days), starting to pack again, all while preparing to fill out the random forms and miscellaneous stuff I need to do to actually start working.
There’s … a lot going on. It’s pretty chaotic, really. On top of that, my boss accidentally spilled water in her laptop, leading to super-happy fun times at work :p.
On top of all of that, the job I’m accepting is as a Solaris/SAN admin. I’ve used solaris, but never gotten too deep in it. I’ve never used a SAN at all. I am a bit worried, so I’m thinking I’m going to spend the 4 weeks of my clearance time trying to swing a bit more functional knowledge of solaris and opensolaris. It’ll be good times!
On the bright side, I don’t need to find an apartment, ’cause the friends I was counting on moving in with still have space to move into are pretty much just there waiting at the moment. So this should be a good time.
