Timeline of the last 3 days

I’m going to make a little timeline of the last couple days. But it’s going to be long and ugly, so I’m hiding it behind a “more” link.

Sunday (midnight) — still awake, jason was around, chillin out
Sunday (3 am) — jason leaves, adam sleeps, I play disgaea till 9 am
Sunday (9 am) — I sleep for 4 hours.
Sunday (1 pm) — I play disgaea. A lot. Eat some miscellaneous stuff, nothing special.
Sunday (8 pm) — I eat dinner. Fish sandwiches, I think? Start laundry.
Monday (12:30 am) — I finish laundry, take a shower …
Monday (1:15 am) I go to sleep
Monday (4:00 am) I wake up, having taken an allergy pill 6 hours earlier that was still in effect to keep me from falling back to sleep.
Monday (7:45 am) go to work.

(7:45 am) in the lab, sign in, check some server docs walk over to envision center
(8:00 am) nobody in envision center still, walk over to envision offices
(8:10 am) nobody in offices, head back to envision center
(8:15 am) still nobody in envision. Head back to the lab. Email envision sysadmin about when they’re going to get there
(8:30 am) Get email back from their sysadmin, asking us to be there between 9 and 9:30, and saying they’ll call. Kill some time troubleshooting a bad dimm in bismark.
(9:30 am) get email/call from envision, me and tejas head over to help set up computers
(11:00 am) done with that, after a trip back to krannert to get my video splitters. Back to the lab, finish troubleshooting bad dimm. Call up dell tech support, spend an hour and a half telling them what I did to troubleshoot, and that we need a new dimm, and I need a way to clear the IMPI messages on something that isn’t redhat or win2k3-sp0. Get them to ship new dimms 4-hour, and link to a knoppix iso which turns out not to work.
(12:30 pm) poke the solaris box. Decide against doing anything to it.
(12:45 pm) aim for food, miss, end up sitting in the lab waiting for people to be around, and playing more with the knoppix openmanage iso.
(1:30 pm) finally take a lunch break … right as a downpour hits.
(2:00 pm) Downpour made the humidity spike badly, and the temp stayed really hot. Sucked to be outside. Ram got there while I was on lunch … installed it, and spent a lot of time trying to get openmanage to cooperate. Unsuccessfully I might add. Decided to table clearing the error log until after MR.
(3:30 pm) More random stuff. Reading openmanage docs, downloading other dell isos to try later, reading more openmanage docs.
(4:30 pm) Bounced back and forth on what hardware I could get on short notice. Got said hardware, on short notice.
(5:00 pm) Did some cleanup stuff from getting the ram, declared the machine temporarily usable. Worked on random stuff in the lab.
(6:30 pm) went home, sat down, ate dinner, played starcraft for a little while.

Monday, (8:50 pm) went to sleep.
Tuesday (6:00 am) woke up. Ate breakfast. surfed the web and played starcraft until 9 am.

(9:30 am) went to work.
(9:45 am) ate some donuts, went to the south ballroom to help the Envision sysadmin set computers up.
(11:45 am) got done with that (making dual monitor machines, installing drivers, making sure they were appropriately configged and up to date). Let the SpecOps guys do their thing, went back to the lab.
(12:00 pm) grabbed half of my lunch from yesterday (arby’s melts), nuked it and ate it. That would be lunch, along with 2 more donuts.
(12:30 pm) random question-and-answer time. Surfed the web a bit. Checked email. Finished eating.
(1:10 pm) told Richelle “10 minutes” in response to “how long would it take you to give me the ability to make pdf’s on my computer?”.
(1:11 pm) got started on that.
(1:20 pm) got done with that.
(1:30 pm) went to the envision center, helped out a bit with the setup there.
(2:00 pm) back to the south ballroom. Table setups, power cabling considerations, machine wrangling, finalizing arrangements.
(3:00 pm) back to the lab, check email, make sure things are running.
(3:30 pm) Off to the South Ballroom again, touch base with Kevin, Tejas. Find out what we’re waiting on, and wait on it.
(3:45 pm) Off to the Mobile Command Post with a cart with some computers on it.
(4:15 pm) Grab power cables for the computers, resync with south ballroom people. Back to MCP.
(4:45 pm) Leave MCP, check Envision, sync with Tejas, make sure machines in envision are good to go. Head off to Ballroom.
(4:50 pm) At ballroom. Do the actual networking details on the machines, get them all set up and running, fix broken hostnames, set up dhcp.
(6:30 pm) all machines set up. Back to SEAS lab for some pizza and a bit of ass-to-chair time.
(7:15 pm) Back to south ballroom. Set up chairs, arrange last tables, fix things that are broken, wander around checking stuff. Help set up the final room touches (dividers, getting extra chairs out of the way, etc).
(9:00 pm) Back to seas lab. Check email. Catch breath. Check server stats, loads.
(9:35 pm) Go home. Sit down. Breathe.

(9:50 pm) Take inventory of what has happened, what needs to happen. Explain to project leader why the fansubbing project has taken a backseat the last 3 or 4 days, and will continue to do so the next two at least.
(10:45 pm) take a nice hot shower.

Tomorrow, I’m expecting things to go like this:
midnight: sleep.
7:15 am: wake up.
7:30 am: head off to seas lab, see if anything’s happening. Also check other locations. See if anyone’s got the camera going, and if not, snag it, check battery status, and maybe snap some south ballroom pics and start charging it. Should make for some good pics.
8:00 am: event starts. Find a comfortable place in the Envision center library, plug in my ibook and Sandy’s laptop that I’ll be borrowing. Remote in to check server loads and syslog messages, and probably spend most of my time reading or playing GNU Go, unless something breaks. In which case, fix it. Wander around throughout the day snapping pictures, maybe. Or just chill, I don’t know. We’ll see how it goes.
