iPods, Cell Phones, Fragmentation

So, I’m walking around campus, as usual. And I’ve noticed, lately it seems like nearly everyone is either talking on a cell phone or buried in pair of headphones (usually white earbuds). This observation led me to think about it, it’s a pretty interesting phenomenon.

So, here I am, back in windows.
I’ve brought gkrellm with me, which is somewhat nice (though could be nicer).
I’ve still not found a fully satisfactory answer to the music player question … but itunes is head and shoulders above rhythmbox, and winamp is at least a head’s worth above xmms.

Yep, I’m doing it.
I’m moving back to windows.
Expected losers: IRC Clients
Unexpected losers: Office Suites, mp3 playback, media playback in general, gnu go interfaces
Expected Winners: all the FOSS software I already used (gaim, firefox)
Unexpected Winners: Liferea (GTK+ RSS reader).
